Questions Solved by The Installation Masters™ at R & M
My house is about 1700 square feet, it has 11 windows and 2 sliding glass doors that need to be replaced. About how long would a job this size take?
There are two types of installations: retrofit and nail on fin. Installing retrofit takes about two days, while installing nail on fin (new construction) takes three to four days.
I've been considering replacing a couple windows myself but am a little leery of the process. What should I be careful of and what would be the benefits of hiring an expert?
Some things to consider are safety, and whether or not you have the tools you will need to get the job done right. Some windows require tools you may not have. If you'd still like to do the job yourself, R & M is more than willing to show you how to install one window and leave the rest of the job to you.
Taking into account the Bay Area climate, what are the most important factors to consider when choosing a brand and/or type of window?
R & M carries only high quality windows from respected vendors. However, there may be some particular features that are more beneficial to you depending on your specific location in the Bay Area. If your home or business is by the coast, south bay, or the inland valley, we recommend vinyl windows with Low-E glass. These windows will help keep heat inside during the winter months and help keep your home cool during the summer months.
